# 116 - Financial summary Chile

The Latin American country we were dreading the most (from a financial point of view) was Chile. And it was true. As soon as we crossed the border we once again had to deal with a different currency, now converting to Euros as well as Peruvian Soles, to be able to compare prices. Soon enough we knew the time of avocados and mangoes were over - for us at least.

Food and drinks:          212.630  CLP  ≈ 252 €

Transportation:               62.780  CLP  ≈   74 €

Accommodation:                    0  CLP  ≈     0 €

Miscellaneous:               24.840  CLP  ≈   29 €

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                    300.250  CLP  ≈ 355 €

That means we each spent about 178 € during our 11 days in Chile.
Therefore we spent about 11 € per person per day.

Ok, a bit over our 10€ goal, but still within reasonable limits.
We managed to avoid lodging costs and hitchhiked most of the 2000 km.

Also we are very happy to have managed to write down every single peso we spent.
For the first time we don't have to write an amount under 'We cannot account for'.
