Peru is not a solely Spanish-speaking country. The most widely spoken indigenous language is Quechua. Especially in the Andes there are areas in Peru where they don’t even speak Spanish but only Quechua. Of course Panos wanted to learn some. He arranged for a few tandem language meetings and exchanged English with Quechua. He started with the numbers and moved onto basic phrases.
1 = Quk
2 = Iskay
3 = Kimsa
What’s your name? = Imataq sutiki?
My name is Panos. = Ñuqapa sutiy Panosmi.
We are from Greece. = Ñuqaiku kaniku Greciamanta.
