# 53 - Food in Mexico

Food in Mexico is everywhere. Every corner has a food cart and the smell of corn tortillas is in the air in every neighbourhood. We know it's a cliché but there is so much corn and so many beans in so many forms!! But we loved it!
We got to try many different types of meat, vegetables and fruits that we had never seen before. Food in Mexico is quite affordable and it became one of our favourite activites, namely trying as much and as often as possible! :-)

The food is as colourful as the country itself. Everything came in plentiful portions and in a big variety. And of course, a huge thanks goes out to all of our new Mexican friends who took us by the hand and introduced us into their culinary world. We are going to miss it a lot.

To clarify culinary terms used in Mexico:

Tortillas: the round flat breads, made from corn flour
Taco: a tortilla with something on top
Quesadilla: a big tortilla with something on top and folded in half

Aguas: juice made with fruits, sugar and water

Plátano: is a banana, like in Europe
But: "plátano" can also mean plantain, which can not be eaten raw but needs cooking
