# 31 - Financial summary USA

We spent 36 days in the USA, so it's time to check our finances. Our goal was to keep the expenses at a minimum. That meant no restaurants, no partying, no touristy sightseeing, no hostels, no expensive transportation. And the result was the following:

466 $ ( 430€ ) : food and drinks
108 $ ( 100€ ) : transportation
    0 $ (     0€ ) : accommodation
316 $ ( 292€ ) : miscellaneous

That means, we each spent 12 $ ( 11€ ) per day.

How did we do that? Well, we connected with locals, cooked by ourselves, slept in our tent, hammock or on people's couches, tried to get lifts and explored the places by simply going for walks. (Misc. was entrance fees, special occasions and gear we had to buy)

Despite our low budget we had an amazing time and didn't feel like we were missing out on anything. :-)
